Apple Portrait Display with Macintosh IIci/cx and ADB extended keyboard 90年前後、DTP (desktop publishing) と言って、紙の印刷物・チラシ・雑誌・本の作製をパソコンでしきりに行っていた時代。紙１ページ分そのままのイメージで編集ができた神のようなディスプレイ。当初は、画面解像度も、印刷解像度も72dpiすなわち1ptで、本当のWYSIWYGになっていた。同じ頃、24インチのApple Tow-Page Displayと言うのもあった。 今時は、書くことに関しては、PPTやXLSやメールやブログの方が圧倒的に増えているので、このPortrait Displayは奇異に感じられるかもしれませんが、iPadは縦置きでPDF資料をそのまま表示してちゃんと読めることを考えると、PC/Macでも縦置き表示がもっと見直されても良いと思う。Tablet PCは縦置き表示にちゃんと対応していますが、いかんせん負け組の印象が強いので残念。
